Trex composite deck built on the water in Lake Wylie, SC

Trex brand decking is by far the best seller in composite products for decks. Their warranty is outstanding, and their products are superior.

Choosing the right decking material

Most composite decking is made from a combination of sawdust, plastic, wood chips and resin. Premium composite decking also has a PVC outer shell that protects the composite inside. This shell adds fade protection and is mildew resistant as well. Most PVC shell capped decking only requires a simple deck rinse twice per year.

There are many different manufacturers providing composite products, but Trex is considered the flagship of this industry and has the best products available. Building with TREX takes a very specific skill set to install properly, which is exactly the kind of work our crews do week in and week out on Lake Wylie and Lake Norman.

A word on pressure treated wood

Pressure treated decking is the most budget friendly flooring option available and looks really nice if installed correctly. It is very important this material is installed correctly. Oftentimes, carpenters install screws too close to the end joints and this results in the boards splitting. Once they split, it will only get worse with time.

Pressure treated wood also requires a lot of maintenance. If it is exposed to a good bit of sun, it will need to be stained every one to two years. This can get very expensive over time, so it is important to think about the initial savings versus the long-term costs of maintaining it.

It is also important to use proper fasteners. Stainless steel is the best choice, as most other types of fasteners will leave black streaks under them over time. These stains are next to impossible to remove and can leave your space looking old and run down in just a few short years.

1

Trex Select

The most budget friendly product Trex carries. It is not as thick as Enhance or Transcend but is still considered a high-quality composite, and the warranty is the same as their top of the line decking.

2

Trex Enhance

A low-maintenance, high-performance composite that offers all the charm and none of the trouble of real wood. Its high-definition grain pattern gives a rich finish; the drawback is that it comes in three colors.

3

Trex Transcend

The best composite decking product available. This line comes in twelve luxury colors and has a deep wood-grain pattern that makes the boards look just like real wood.

4

Pressure treated wood

The most budget friendly flooring option available, and it looks really nice installed correctly. It can be stained, painted or left unfinished, but expect to re-stain it every one to two years in full sun.

The process begins with a professional consultation where we evaluate your home and its architecture to determine what will work best for your space. From the very first phone call we guide you through the process, take the time to fully understand your vision, and give you a clear picture of what the project involves before any work starts.

We offer gable, hip, shed and custom roof styles. There are often limitations on which style you can use depending on the layout of your home, so during your consultation we evaluate the house and make expert recommendations based on the existing structure and the features you want to include.

Costs vary greatly depending on the square footage of your basement and the building materials you choose. The good news is that finishing a basement can usually be done for less than adding a room addition, while still giving you the additional living space and the increased home value. The only way to know for certain is a conversation with an experienced contractor once you know how you want to use the space.
